Stories of inappropriate relationships between teachers and students, physical abuse by parents and other forms of child abuse are all too common. The PA Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) is designed to protect children from abuse, and the law underwent major amendments in recent years. No matter the practice area, lawyers are likely to encounter CPSL questions. This one substantive credit program--designed for attorneys in all practice areas, parents and those simply interested in school safety--will focus on the latest developments with this crucial law. Among the specific topics to be discussed are: what types of suspected abuse must be reported; what the law requires of teachers and volunteers; PA background checks and abuse clearances; what to do when a volunteer or applicant has a criminal record; how the law applies to contractors working in a school; recent cases involving Child Protective Services Law allegations and violations. Medicare is a complicated, ever-evolving world. This program will offer attorneys an overview of current Medicare-related procedures, practices and trends. The various Medicare enrollment periods and eligibility requirements will be discussed. The program also will cover when and how to enroll in Medicare and Medicare Supplemental plans, the cost of the various components of Medicare, and how Medicare interacts with employer group coverage and other types of non-Medicare coverage. Also discussed will be the various components of Medicare plans (including Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D) and the availability of special-needs plans and low-income subsidies for Medicare enrollees. In addition, the discussion will provide an overview of traditional MediGap plans as well as Medicare Advantage Plans, and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP). The program is sponsored by USI Affinity.
